Going in to get a ****** biopsy and a removal biopsy under my armpit, will it hurt? Im so scared?
I recently went into my Gyno because I had a lump under my armpit, that I have had for quiet sometime but it has gotten bigger so I thought I better get it checked out. She sent me for a ultrasound and decided to do my ****** on that side as well. When the ultrasound came back, the one under my armpit is a mass, and they found a small mass in my ****** as well. Im only 25 years old, and kinda a little freaked out at this point. They want to send me in for a biopsy on the ****** and a biopsy / possible removal on the one under my armpit. Is this bad news? Do they think its cancer? Im soooo scared. Does the biopsy hurt? What is the procedure like? Will the put me to sleep or just numb the area? Will they give me medicine so I dont know whats going on? Please if you have been through this please give me your experiences.
Thanks!!

Lung Cancer
It might hurt especially after the biopsy. Early detection is the key. I lost a friend because of ****** cancer. The sad thing was, she had a lump but she put it off and hope it would go away. It did not. She was only 35. By the time she found out about that, it was too late. I am not trying to scare you but taking care of yourself is very important!

hun just because you have a mass does not mean you have cancer… I have had a biopsy of the ****** and arm pit also. They usually put you to sleep.. The procedure itself does not hurt but once the pain med wears off i will say it hurts but they send you home with pain meds that will make you comftorable.. I had my first biopsy under armpit when I was 18. and ****** at age 30. Depending how deep they go with the biopsy they may even put a drainage tube. Which is not painful but annoying as far as gets in the way.. If you wish to email me feel free i can tell you even more for I am a ****** cancer survivor:) Good Luck to you hun and always remeber do not sweat the small stuff just deal with the big picture…
Lung Cancer
Michelle, there are different kinds of biopsies. I had a core biopsy done on my ****** and axillary (armpit) nodes, and they just used a local anesthetic. The only part of it that hurt was the needle to deliver the local. Afterwards (for about 2 weeks) it would twang pretty good, but the pain was certainly bearable.
If they do a SNB (Sentinel Node Biopsy) then they will probably use twilight anesthesia that will put you to sleep. They actually make an incision and remove a node to examine under the microscope.
It is worrisome that the axillary mass grew in size, but remember you have 2 things going for you: ****** cancer in someone you age is quite unusual, and 80% of all ****** biopsies are negative.
Try not to worry. Tylenol will take care of the pain (if they do a SNB they may give you something a little beefier like Percocet).
Good luck !
Lung Cancer
It’s easy to say ‘don’t worry’, but I found the worrying before much more painful than the actual procedure. I won’t say it was a doddle, but nothing like what people had told me would happen.
As a previous answer says you have everything going for you, but if you have this checked out you are much more likely to be healthier and reassured. Good luck
