What else is known to lower chances of getting cancer apart from green tea?
I know that green tea is very good as it is very high in anti-oxidants, but I haven’t been able to find of any other simple things that could be incorporated into a daily routine to reduce the chance of getting cancer. All you health experts out there please let me know of any other simple things one can do to reduce the chances of getting this terrible disease. (I already know the basics like exercise, eat well, get enough sleep etc..). Thanks you!

Smoking Effects
Brassica family members, especially broccoli, are good for colon cancer prevention because of they contain sulfur compounds.
Remember that oxidants aren’t all bad. The immune system uses them to kill bacteria so don’t OD on antioxidants. You need some oxidising compounds to fight infection.
Cancer from smoking
I’ve actually done a little resource on this lately myself. Like you said, green tea is excellent source of antioxidants. White tea actually has even more antioxidants but can be a tad bit harder to find.
Some other simple sources of antioxidants are fish (high in omega 3’s), vegetables and fruits (especially oranges), and berries of all kinds.
Speaking of berries, there are some interesting studies out there about the acai berry from the amazon. It’s supposed to be packed more antioxidants than just about any fruit. Getting it fresh is almost impossible so you might need to find an affordable supplement or something.
A type of vitamin E called gamma tocopherol has been found to kill cancer tumors. One of the best sources of it is eating walnuts.
How long can I smoke?
Prostate cancer is an ideal target for chemoprevention strategies that, at present, may be the best approach, according to a group of Italian researchers. They cite a growing body of evidence that compounds from green tea (catechins: the most common are EGCG, EGC, ECG and EC) might posses anti-tumor activity.
Cancer from smoking
Good question. There are lots of lifestyle changes you can adopt to help lower your risk of getting cancer. You’ve mentioned several already, but your diet is a big part of your risk factor. A diet with plenty of protein, omega-3 acids, fiber, and veggies will certainly help. Red meat isn’t bad, just watch how you cook it. There have been several recent studies done that show that grilling foods (BBQ) can actually increase your risk.
There is way more info than I can put here, so I’m going to link a couple articles below for you. The first is a diet that has been studied and proved to help prevent breast cancer & increase survival rates, but the advice contained can be applied to all other cancers as well; protein, veggies, antioxidants, omega-3s etc.
The second is an article about how to reduce your dietary risk for cancer when grilling and preparing the foods you eat. Good luck, and here’s to your health!
