Stomach bug or something worse?
For the last week I have been having stomach pain a lot with some diarrhea and both gas and belching. The stomach pain starts off it seems around my sternum and mostly occurs there before I eat. After I eat I have the pain more in the lower abdomen. Veery little nausea, and no vomiting. Maalox has really done nothing, and it doesn’t seemto be tied to anything I eat. My dad died from colon cancer 2 years ago, and this is some of what he went through, so of course I’m freaking out. What could this be?

Lung Cancer
It sounds like you may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). I myself suffer from that and when I’m having pain I can hardly eat. However it effects everyone differently. Since your father died from colon cancer, you really need to get yourself to a doctor and get checked out. My guess though is IBS.
Good luck and God Bless!
Lung Cancer
Go see your doctor. It could be nothing serious but better safe then sorry.
Lung Cancer
Go to a gastro-intestinal/internal medicine specialist, especially considering your family history. Only armchair medical advice here.
Lung Cancer
You could have gallstones or a gallbladder problem, first thing that comes to mind. See a doc, tell him don’t fool around, send me to a gastroenterologist.
Lung Cancer
hum, complicated. you could have simply ate something that didn’t agree with you, or you have food poisoning. best thing to do is to go and see your doctor. i am sorry to hear about your father, chances are though that because you are still young it isn’t as serious as cancer. i hope you feel better soon =)
Lung Cancer
cancers are very rare to run through families, and just coz ur father died from it, who i am sorry by the way, doesnt make you die from it too. if your family has a life-long history for the past 20 or so generations of cancer, then there is a chance it might develop .. usually it is not primary colon cancer which develops it might have been secondary colon cancer metastisized from somewhere else ..
i am not sure what u have, might be food infection, might be a developing stomach ulcer (from infection) .. u seem to have typical symptoms of infection .. i really dont think its ulcer coz u mention no vomiting (or haemoptesis – spiting blood) .. diarrhoea, stomach pains, gas .. all are symptoms of food poisoning …
go check with a doctor , i think he/she will ask for a urine/faeces sample .. so go as soon as possible .. i wouldnt recommend taking any drugs (like maalox) untill u speak with ur doctor ..
