what does bblood in urine mean in a 66 year old man scared its cancer?

my dad is a 66 year old man a smoker he does have a cyst on each kidney he went to the drs yesterday for a routine check up and he has blood in his urine they called a few hrs after his appointment i dont know how much or if it was visible they said they were going to send it out and call us in 2 days he also has ast jude mechanical heart valve high blood pressure and cholesterol and his potassium level was a little high not sure about know so worried its cancer any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated thanks for all answers

Lung Cancer
They can’t diagnose cancer of the bladder by looking at the urine. They need to do something like a cystoscopy to see if there are tumors in the bladder. Maybe he has a Urinary Tract Infection. That is a possible cause of blood in the urine. FYI: techinical term for blood in urine is hematuria.

Not sure in this case but my uncle had blood in his *** and they found a tumor in his kidney. After surgery and chemo though he is doing better. I wouldnt worry, just let the doctors check him over.
