It just seems like all cats have cancer! Is there anything you can do to prevent it? I feed my cat only holistic (100% natural) cat food, and white tuna in a can (like the one us people eat) only once in a while. So, just wondering, if feeding them better food and stuff will help prevent them from getting cancer.

also she weighs 6 pounds which is below 6.5 pounds which is bad. she has been eating for two weeek we have been forcing her to eat and drink But she seems to purr a lot when we are around her and taking care of her.

I have a 3 month old kitten he went to the vets for his first fvrcp and then 4 wks later got his second fvrcp and rabies in three wks he has to go back and get his 3rd fvrcp. He is an indoor cat should i have him tested for leukemia or is it a waste of money. BTW i do have another cat she is 10 yrs old i have had her since she was born i don’t think she was ever tested for leukemia but she is fixed and has all her shots.

He seems energetic enough but can’t eat most cat foods without vomiting and has a very restrictive diet of IAM’s hairball treatment dry food and the occasional spoon of wet food later in the day. I can’t really afford to get him an X-ray and any minor vet visit usually has the vet saying he’s fine, just very picky. I doubt this but would appreciate any comments from people with cats who also vomit very frequently.
He eats 3 meals a day. A quarter cup of dry food in the morning and night. And about 2 tablespoons of wet food with gravy at mid-day. His vomiting usually does not have hairballs. He just seems to either *** or have to urge to vomit after a while. We also have to keep him locked up for an hour after every meal in case he vomits. Any walking around can often trigger it too. He’s always been bad about eating his food fast and not chewing but he’s never become fat. In fact he should be fat now and yet looks skinny. It all seems to pass thru him like he’s not absorbing it all.

According to the vet it is a lymphoma and not feline leukemia if that helps.

I had my now 4 month old kitten to the vet for his booster shots, and asked the vet to check his eyes because one was smaller than the other and I wanted to be sure of what was wrong.

The vet said that one of his pupils are fixed, and that he could go blind in that eye and as it is he has poor vision in it. I have to decide if I can afford to pay for the eye specialist when he is in, but I’ll start saving money since that’s not til September.

The vet said that I could be a sign of feline leukemia, and that I could test him when he gets fixed. But from what I’ve read there’s no cure, and treatment is expensive and doesn’t work all the time.

I have no other cats and no plans to have anymore cats, he’s an indoor only cat (he HATES the outside, scared of cars), and perfectly healthy otherwise. Would it be better to just not know?
